I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel’s sake. The great affair is to move.
Robert Louis Stevenson
I love this quote; it so completely encompasses everything I believe about traveling. The destination is not so important to me as seeing a place I’ve never seen before, or experiencing something I can’t experience at home. It looks different every place I travel to. Sometimes it’s walking through a tiny Scottish town and drinking tea with two of my favorite people. Sometimes it’s standing on the top of a High Peak in the Adirondacks and knowing I pushed myself physically beyond what I thought I was capable of. Sometimes it’s walking through a wildflower field on Mount Rainier and looking in awe at God’s glorious creation. But it is all to experience something new, to move, to go.
